About Classification
Body (Case)
We sell used pianos as they are. It means that they are unpolished and untuned. We give a grade A to used pianos which we think it will look good if you just polish them. We give a grade B to the used pianos with some scratches, and C to the used pianos that you have to refinish.
Key
We give a grade A to the used pianos that are not loose and have no scratches even though it’s color has changed.
Pin
We give a grade A except used pianos which do not function or are very rusty.
Action
We barely find a problem if the hammer is not extremely over used. We think that the most important thing is if it transfers movement of the keys well. In this matter, most of YAMAHA piano have no problem on the action.
Soundboard
Grading soundboard is very controversial. In Japan, piano dealers do not find it a problem unless they have distinctive cracks on the sound board. If there is a cracks, of course, we give a low grade as it makes noise. We do not consider it a problem as long as it makes right sound. It is very rare to see piano with the crack on it in Japanese pianos. Therefore, we give a grade A to most of our used pianos.
